My memory of Andrina goes back to the days of Erindale Cooperative Nursery School in Mississauga where our youngest attended and I helped out as a Mom at the Cooperative. Andrina was always a warm and caring educator with the young ones and I learned so much being there. I also enjoyed bumping into her over the years in the neighbourhood and catching up on the family. To the Skuterud family, please accept my sincere condolences.

It is with a heavy heart that we write these words of condolences to Andrina’s family. We first met Andrina when we joined the congregation of Erindale Presbyterian Church five years ago. However, we did not really get to know her until she took interest in helping our special needs daughter. She spent a lot of time in getting to know her, and even drove her home from church on a couple of occasions to meet and talk with us. This is how we got to know that Andrina was a very caring and sympathetic person. We only recently found out that she went through previous health crises. In the few times we spoke to her, she never talked about her health challenges. She was only interested in helping us. We will miss her terribly and will always remember the kindness that she showed to our family.

I am deeply saddened by this news. Holding you Erik, Marit, Mikal and your whole family very close to my heart. I first met Andrina, Marit and Mikal at the swimming pool in Allerod, Denmark back in the seventies. We were new arrivals and a bit at a loss in a new country. Andrina was so very kind and welcoming. I will never forgot the fun we had over the years and the Christmases we shared that crossed two continents. Although we had not spoken for a long time the very fond memories of her - her wit, kindness, & forthrightedness - is that a word?! - will not be forgotten. sending love, Fay, Rob and Jake

I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Andrina’s family. Years ago I had the privilege of working with Andrina when she taught a behaviour class at Castlemore P.S. As a SLP working for the Peel Board at that time, I would consult with teachers about improving students’ language abilities. Andrina was ahead of her time in realizing that language and behaviour were inextricably linked. It was a rare pleasure when I would meet a teacher who was as invested in and as caring of her students as Andrina was and who genuinely wanted to collaborate in augmenting students’ overall language capabilities. For a short time in my life, I was honoured to have Andrina as a colleague and to count her as a friend as well. She was brilliant in education, always had an open mind, was a fantastic storyteller, and, of course, her sense of humour was priceless. I admired and respected her. I loved how down-to-earth she was; a true, honest and sincere Celtic soul! My husband is Danish and he always marvelled at Andrina’s command of Danish, especially her ability to flawlessly pronounce the name of a dessert called “rødgrød med fløde” (a rice pudding with almonds and raspberry sauce) which he claims is the “measure of fluency” in Danish and which can usually only be pronounced properly by actual Danes......and of course, by Andrina! (It had to be the Scottish accent that helped with that!) Andrina taught me a great deal and enriched my life in the short time that I knew her, and she stood up for me professionally at an difficult time in my career. I will never forget her. I know she will be missed immensely by her friends and especially by her family.

My condolences to Erik and family on Andrina’s passing. I am deeply sadden by her loss. I was so very fortunate to become friends with Andrina through work and our friendship continued long after. Andrina had a wonderful sense of humour and a larger than life presence that naturally drew you in. She shared many hilarious anecdotes as only she could do. She had a very kind and caring way with the students, and she was often affectionately referred to as “Skuterud” by many of her students. I will continue to treasure our friendship and miss her dearly.
