Balwant Singh Jassal passed away peacefully on February 12, 2021 at 1:21pm.
Balwant Singh Jassal was born on June 16, 1924 in Nathewal, Punjab to parents Late Inder Singh Jassal and Late Bishan Kaur Jassal. He was the second oldest of five children. He worked at a military workshop in Ferozepur until moving to Delhi in 1947, where he worked as an instrument technician. As the sole earner in his family, Balwant Singh graciously supported his family and all of his siblings while ensuring their education and placement in their respective professions.
In 1980, Balwant Singh Jassal migrated to Canada, bringing alongside his sons Gurdeep and Paramjeet. Finding himself in new circumstances, Balwant Singh's continued faith in Sikhi allowed him to persevere and continue to secure the future for his family.
He spent his retirement years devoting his time to his family and to his religion. He was a regular devotee at Nanaksar gurdwara where he would partake in regular Seva. His passion for Sikhi and Seva and the tenets of his faith have been passed along to his family.
Balwant Singh Jassal is survived by Mohinder Kaur Jassal, his beloved wife of 68 years; Sibling Surjit Kaur Kainth; Beloved sons Harpal Singh Jassal, Gurdeep Singh Jassal and Paramjeet Singh Jassal; Beloved Daughters Nirmal Kaur and Harjit Kaur Dhillon; Grandchildren Sumeet Pal Singh Jassal, Saravjit Singh, Tejvanse Singh Dhillon, Sandip Pal Singh Jassal, Harvinder Singh, Harvinder Singh Dhillon, Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Harvind Singh Jassal, Puneet Singh Jassal, Amit Singh Jassal, Manpreet Kaur Jassal, Gagandeep Singh Jassal and Damanjeet Singh Jassal; Great-grandchildren Surmeet Kaur Jassal, Harveen Kaur Jassal, Anant Pal Singh Jassal and Sanmeet Pal Singh Jassal.
He will be missed by the many people whose lives he has graced throughout his wonderful years.
