Stania Slahor 1927-2020

Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to many.
We will miss your beautiful voice crying, “Darling, it is so good to see you!” and
your loving embrace that folded us in your arms and welcomed us into your heart.
A fierce advocate of arts and literature, your spirit will live on in the swirling light and emotions of your extraordinary paintings and books of poetry that tell the story of your life’s joys and sorrows.
When Canada became your home you immersed yourself and your family in the culture and lore of your new country. Together with your beloved nomadic husband Ludo, you experienced life in several rural and urban Ontario locales. While you taught at a high school, help running a productive family farm and became active community member, you also ensured your gifted children George and Hana were well educated and allowed to pursue their own unique talents. Despite being afflicted with M.S. in mid -life, you continued to pursue your own personal dreams of achieving recognition for your art, literature and poetry.
You were and remain an inspiration to all whose lives you touched and will be cherished in our hearts, forever.

Lorena, my parents, siblings and I are very sorry to see that Babicka is gone. To me she was always ready to give advices and now that I have aged a bit, I understand that all of them were good advices.
Babicka and Dedecek treated me as a member of their family, a real grandson, since the day they met me in Mexico City's airport December 8th, 2001. They were always there to smile, listen and provide their very best.
Babicka had a strong, powerful and creative mind and I admired her since the day I met her. She was loving and caring and wanted all the very best for those whom she loved.
All I have to say is: Thank you Babicko, you helped me to reach far.
Our most sincere condolences and all our love in this difficult time.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. We were very fond of Stania and Ludo here in London. She was a very warm and thoughtful person. I admired her poetry, her enthusiastic ebullience, and her resolution to get her poems out in the world!

My deepest condolences,
Penn Kemp
